Group Guidelines

Participation requires radical self-responsibility and a preparedness for deepening self-intimacy.
The Four Agreements, a book by Don Miguel Ruiz, is a helpful model for our circle.
(and for life in general)

  • Be Impeccable With Your Word

Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

  • Don’t Take Anything Personally

Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.

  • Don’t Make Assumptions

Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

  • Always Do Your Best

Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.

Julia Cameron’s Wisdom for Groups Practicing
The Artist’s Way

-A Summary-

”Creativity is like breathing: pointers may help, but we do the process ourselves. Creative clusters, where we gather as peers to develop our strength, are best regarded as tribal gatherings, where creative beings raise, celebrate, and actualize the creative power which runs through us all.”
- Julia Cameron

  1. Avoid Hierarchies
The group is egalitarian, with no "gurus" or elevated leaders. Each person is equally a part of the collective, no one more than another. Facilitators guide but also share their own experiences and take creative risks alongside participants.

  2. Practice Active Listening
We each get what we need from the group process by sharing our own material and by listening to others. We do not need to comment on another person's sharing in order to help that person. We must refrain from trying to "fix" someone else.

  3. Respect and Compassion
Be certain that respect and compassion are afforded equally to every member. Each person must be able to speak their own wounds and dreams. No one is to be "fixed" by another member of the group. There is no one right way to do this. Love is important. Be kind to yourself. Be kind to one another.

  4. Accept Imperfection
You cannot control your own process, let alone anyone else's. Know that you will feel rebellious occasionally - that you won't want to do all of your Morning Pages and exercises at times in the twelve weeks. Relapse is okay. You cannot do this process perfectly, so relax, be kind to yourself, and hold on to your hat. Even when you feel nothing is happening, you will be changing at a great velocity. This change is a deepening into your own intuition, your own creative self.

  5. Be Self-Loving
Continually seek your own inner guidance rather than outer guidance. If the facilitator or group doesn’t feel right for you, it’s best to leave. Keep gurus at bay. You have your own answers within you.

What Will It Cost?

This circle is donation-based. You’re invited to contribute an amount that feels right for you and your circumstances. The focus is on creating an accessible and inclusive space where everyone can engage fully in the process, regardless of financial ability.

When Does It Start?

This Women’s Circle begins on Monday, March 3rd
and will meet weekly over Zoom from 7-8:30 PM MST for 13 consecutive weeks.
